I know I know this is a bit late on the ball. Anna Baltzer and Moustafa Barghouti were on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show a few days ago. This was a major moment. Stewart had nothing to gain and everything to lose from hosting them on his segment and did so anyway. Bravo. Adam Horowitz has an excellent analysis of the show. There’s also something Jewbonics readers can do, and it’ll take just a moment. Reactionary Zionist groups are lashing into Stewart for having Baltzer and Barghouti on. Write him a letter of support, short and sweet. Mention Barghouti’s name, or Baltzer’s, or both, and make sure to choose “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” as the topic.

Also noteworthy, and very encouraging, is that the audience was very supportive of Barghouti and Baltzer, e.g. of the claim that the Palestinian issue is a “human issue”. As Norman Finkelstein puts it, “The long dark night is passing, finally”. A tad premature perhaps, but it’s difficult not to feel hopeful.
