Lot to repent this year! But maybe easier to simply deny everything. Israeli/American sins, según the Goldstone Report and the United Nations Environment Program, comprised (1) bombing the crap out of of Gaza (2) terror-bombing its population, and (3) literally threatening to end the micro-region's ability to support life. Its aquifer is about to collapse--according to the UN, without immediate remedial efforts the aquifer will no longer be able to produce "clean water" for hundreds of years [which should be in double-scare quotes--no water is clean and Gaza's water is already so polluted that diarrhea is endemic].
Already, it has unacceptable salinity levels due to the penetration of Mediterranean salt-water, and it will take at least 20 years to recover to a level where it doesn't need external supports. Sewage is percolating into the water supply, which has increased nitrates above what are considered acceptable levels.
The UNEP report adds [PDF]:
According to an agricultural survey conducted by UNDP/PAPP, 17 percent of the total cultivated area of the GazaStrip was completely destroyed in the conflict, including 17.5 percent of the orchards and 9.2 percent of open fields....The state of the environment in the Gaza Strip is bleak from any perspective. There are major challenges to be overcome across a broad range of environmental sectors, but particularly in relation to the over-use and contamination of groundwater.
Some of this--such as the bombing of Gaza's sewage treatment plant--is attributable to Cast Lead. Some is impossible to de-tangle from earlier environmental degradation, worsened by the illegal occupation. And then a leaked UN report says that the blockade is pushing forward "a process of de-development in the Gaza Strip, which potentially could lead to the complete breakdown of public infrastructure and further deterioration in the economy." Zionism, not so pretty.

Lot to repent this year? Is this for you or for others?
Too much to ask for from someone as callous and self serving as yourself for self reflection (which is the true nature of the holiday).
